TOBAGO ... WHERE IN THE WORLD IS IT ??

Look for Tobago at the bottom end of the chain of Caribbean islands, north of Trinidad and the coast of South America. The full name of the country is the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, made up by the political union of two islands - Trinidad : the big brassy sister and Tobago : the smaller and quieter one.

Tobago has an elongated shape, is green and mountainous with a main ridge of hills running the length of the island like a backbone. This is the Main Ridge Forest reserve, the oldest Tropical Rain Forest reserve in the Western Hemisphere, declared a protected area in 1776. Along the coast there are several small secluded beaches, with the white sand beaches on the western Caribbean coastline, and the darker sands on the eastern Atlantic coastline. Best known beaches are Store Bay and Pigeon Point in the southwest peninsular. Coral reefs surround the island providing scuba diving which is spectacular and varied.

Climate & Weather:

Climate - Because Tobago sits just north of the equator it enjoys a tropical island climate - days and nights of equal length with temperatures ranging in the high 20s- low 30sC (or the 70's-high 80's F). We have sunshine year round and there's always a cooling tropical breeze from the prevailing trade winds.

Expect heavier rainfall during June to November (the Rainy Season) with drier days from January to May (the Dry Season). Annual rainfall is about 200 cm (40 inches) over most of the country. Tobago is just south of - and therefore outside- the hurricane belt.
